TASD School Board Adopts Alternate Calendar Option E for the 2026–2027 School Year
The Texarkana Arkansas School District Board of Directors has officially adopted Alternate Calendar Option E as the instructional calendar for the 2026–2027 school year.
After reviewing the results of staff and community surveys, and carefully assessing the needs of our students, staff, and families, the Board accepted the administration’s recommendation to move forward with Alternate Calendar Option E. This decision reflects a balanced approach to supporting student learning while also addressing staff and student well-being and minimizing burdens on families.
Superintendent Dr. Lloyd Jackson emphasized the importance of a thoughtful and responsive calendar:
“Calendar Option E allows us to prioritize strong academic outcomes while also recognizing the very real concerns related to burnout among both students and staff. At the same time, we were intentional about selecting a calendar that helps reduce unnecessary burdens on our parents and families.”
The Board and administration recognize that school calendars impact every member of our district community. We are grateful to the parents, students, staff, and community members who took the time to provide feedback through surveys and discussions. Your input played a meaningful role in shaping this decision.
Texarkana Arkansas School District remains committed to making decisions that support student success, employee well-being, and family needs, and we appreciate your continued partnership as we plan for the future.
