The Texarkana Arkansas School District Board of Directors recently voted to modify the 2023-2024 school calendar. The adjustment involves switching April 1, initially designated as a student holiday, to April 8. The decision to amend the calendar stems from the much-anticipated occurrence of the Great American Solar Eclipse on April 8. This cosmic event is anticipated to draw significant numbers of visitors to the Texarkana area. In light of safety concerns associated with the expected influx of traffic and visitors, TASD, along with over 100 school districts across the state of Arkansas, has opted to close schools on April 8. In summary, students will attend school on April 1 and will be out of school on April 8.

By the end of this week, all students should have their ZPass. Starting Monday, November 6, ALL bus riders will be required to scan their ZPass cards as they enter and exit the buses in the morning and the afternoon. Please help us by talking to your child about the importance of having his or her card at all times. If a student does not present and scan the Zpass, he or she will NOT be allowed to ride a bus. A replacement must be purchased if the ZPASS is lost or destroyed. Replacement cost is $5.00. Once your child receives his or her ZPASS, visit https://www.zpassplus.com/ to activate your account.
