AHS Graduation Ceremony Relocated Due to Weather Forecast - The Texarkana Arkansas School District administration has continued to monitor the weather and, based on existing forecast, has determined it necessary to move today’s Arkansas High School commencement ceremony to the First Baptist Church Moores Lane – masks are optional. As mentioned in the graduation invitations, the ceremony at First Baptist Church will begin at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Each graduate received ten (10) home-side stadium tickets during graduation practice. Only the ten (10) home-side stadium tickets will be used for guests to attend the ceremony at First Baptist Church. Due to space limitations, no visitor-side or rain tickets will be used to enter the ceremony. The doors will close at 7:00 p.m. and remain closed until the conclusion of the ceremony. Late guests will be directed to the overflow area to view the ceremony via livestream.

Arkansas High School students Summer Barrick, KeeYonece Butler, Rashad Thrower, and Benjamin Tripp Wilson have been selected to attend the 42nd Annual Arkansas Governor’s School (AGS) hosted at Arkansas Tech University. Selection for Governor’s School is based on a combination of ability and interest and is highly competitive.
The Arkansas Governor’s School (AGS) is a four-week summer residential program for upcoming high school seniors who are residents of the state of Arkansas. The program is funded by the Arkansas State Legislature as a portion of the biennial appropriation for Gifted and Talented Programs through the Arkansas Department of Education. State funds provide tuition, room, board, and instructional materials for each student who attends the four-week program on the site of a residential college campus sponsored by the State.
The Arkansas Governor’s School is a non-credit program that seeks to create a unique experience for a select group of Arkansas’ best students - the potential leaders of the 21st century. Both inside and outside the classroom, AGS provides highly motivated,
creative students with an intellectual atmosphere. The excitement of intellectual and artistic pursuits and the expectation of significant conceptual gains permeate all aspects of the participants’ lives for the full four weeks.

Thursday, April 22, the Texarkana Arkansas School District jazz bands will perform at the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium located at 216 Walnut St, Texarkana, AR. Tickets are $5.00 at the door. The performance will feature the AHS big band 1, AHS jazz band 2, AHS jazz combo and the AMS jazz band. Mask are required.
Congratulations to Arkansas High School Seniors Brayden Capps, Evin Burton and Gaylon Williams for selection into the Student Television Network Honor Society. These three young men are the first ever Razorback TV inductees. Roughly 80-100 students receive this honor each year based on a set of qualifications. Some of the qualifications include a minimum GPA of 3.5, active membership in the organization, recommendation by their advisor, and approval by the STN Executive Director.
